Force runs into Immovable Object
The Generals welcomed another team into the IFL this past Saturday. The Generals started off with something to prove going up 14-0 by scoring on their first 2 drives before sputtering to a crawl. They were able to connect for another touchdown score with :10 left in the half on a 4th and goal to take a 21-0 halftime lead. After not scoring in the 3rd quarter they were able to get 2 more touchdowns to get your final score. The Midwest Force dropped to a record of 1-2 after losing to the Generals 35-0. The Generals defense notched their second straight shutout, while forcing five Force turnovers. Jeremy Hibbeln continued his assault on IFL defenses by tossing two more touchdown passes. For the second straight week someone other than Hibbeln threw a touchdown pass for the Generals. Jermaine Wilson tossed a late touchdown for the finishing score. Bobbie Burton and Greg Obannon both added scores on the ground. After the game the team walked off feeling like they played below their expectations and are hungry to get back out on the field. The Generals improve to 3-0 in the IFL and 5-0 overall. The team will be off this next week, but will continue action at home on August 7th against the Madison County Pirates.
Generals tame Wildcats
The West Central Wildcats played their first game in the IFL on Saturday night. They left Roncalli High School after suffering their first loss in the IFL at the hands of the Generals. After muddling through a mediocre performance in week one, the Generals were firing on all cylinders in week two. The Generals' defense forced a Wildcats' three-and-out on their first drive. The visitors then made their first big mistake of the day...they punted to #2. Monsanto Love took the Wildcats' punt 80 yards for the first score of the night. Love added two interceptions on defense. Jeremie Hibblin fired three touchdown passes, and Bobbie Burton ran in two more scores. When the dust settled, the Generals sent the Wildcats home with their tails between their legs with a 52-0 win! We would like to thank all the fans who turned out for the 2010 home opener, it was a great success. We will be back at Roncalli on August 7th to take on the Madison County Pirates.
